Intent
To inspire
students to connect with literature, using novels they have chosen, and hold
them accountable for this free-reading, while creating a community of readers.
Through writing
novel reviews and peer reviews, students will demonstrate their knowledge and
understanding of literary elements in class. Students will be challenged to
make connections between literature, personal experience, community and global
issues.
This project
should inspire students to passionately talk about literature and it’s
influence on their lives and the community. Students can explore their peers’
blogs, comment or review and engage with other content.
Blog
This blog will house the project itself, and
include links to the students' individual literature blogs. The blog also
contains assignment sheets, rubrics, and tools or inspiration available.
Previous projects have shown that students are more invested in the work they create and publish. Students love to check feedback comments from their peers and see how many hits their page has. Students get creative and passionate about work they can publish.
• Blogging gives students an authentic, online audience for their work.
• Blogging enables students to view and comment on others' work in real time, anytime.
• Blogging allows students to customize their content to create meaning in multiple ways.
